Winter Alert! Winter is officially here. Remember these tips:
- Keep your gas tank full. Water tends to condense in the gas tank which can cause fuel lock and hard starting (especially in our RTP area where the winter temperature can drop 30 degrees in one day). Also the extra weight of the gas helps traction on slippery wet roads. Fuel mileage will suffer a little but being able to start one's car and safety are more imporatant issues.
- Check the air pressure in your tires. Many cars have underinflated tires in the winter time as we transition from summer to winter. It is not much fun checking your tire pressure on cold days. But sometimes people wake up to a flat tire on a cold wintry morning simply because the tire wall was no longer sealed against the rim due to the drop in tire air pressure due to the drop in outside air temperature.
